Vauxhall Zafira B Models Heating and Ventilation

12 October 2015

Statement issued by Vauxhall 22nd October 2015

Vauxhall has identified potential problems with the heating fan, pollen filter and resistor in Zafira B cars that have been repaired using 'a non-Vauxhall approved component'.

The resistor will be replaced at Underwoods Vauxhall in Colchester, Clacton, Sudbury and Tiptree in every affected Zafira vehicle free of charge.

Statement issued by Vauxhall 20th October 2015

Vauxhall is investigating reports of fire in the heating and ventilation system area of some Vauxhall Zafira B models. This model was launched in 2005. The current Zafira Tourer is not affected by this issue.

Customer safety is our number one priority. So, while the number of incidents is very low in proportion to the number of Zafira B models on the road, Vauxhall will act decisively once the cause has been found and a technical solution determined and we’ll contact the owners of all affected vehicles and arrange rework at no cost to customers.

Meanwhile, we urge customers who are concerned about using their car, or who notice any unusual characteristics with their heating and ventilation system (such as a squeaking noise from the dashboard), to book a vehicle inspection with their Vauxhall Retailer. This will be done free of charge.

How to find out if your car is affected
All our investigations relate to Zafira B models built between 2005 and 2014 and equipped with manual air conditioning (not Electronic Climate Control).

1. If you have the Zafira B model left, your car could be affected
If your Zafira B has manual air conditioning, it could be affected. Please note that both manual air conditioning and climate control have similar-looking controls. However, climate control models have an ‘Auto’ button at the top left of the unit, as shown.

3. If you have a Zafira A like the model below, your car is not affected

What to do if your vehicle could be affected
If you think your car is affected and any of the following statements apply, please contact your Vauxhall Retailer to book an appointment for your vehicle to be inspected:

  • You have concerns about using your car
  • You notice unusual characteristics with your heating and ventilation system (for example, a squeaking noise from the dashboard)
  • Your fan does not work in positions 1, 2 or 3
  • Your car has had previous maintenance work on its heating and ventilation system.

Until your car has been inspected, you should set the fan speed to zero (0) on the heating and ventilation system.

The vehicle inspection will be free of charge.
